Meet Nyland
Our community, established in 1992, is proud to be one of the first cohousing neighborhoods in the United States. With 42 homes, we are home to 135 residents. Nestled on 42 acres of beautiful land, we’re located just 6 miles east of Boulder in the town of Lafayette.

To the north, Boulder County Open Space land, part of the preserved 'green belt' around Boulder, is leased to a farmer for grazing and hay cultivation, ensuring the area remains undeveloped. Walking paths in the area allow you to explore up to 4 miles without ever crossing a street.

We also have a sand volleyball court for residents to enjoy.

Most homes have a basement, a main level, and a large loft. Homes on the north side of the north pedway are known as 'garage row' because they have direct driving access to garages behind the houses.

Our Common House is the heart of our community, hosting meetings, shared meals, celebrations, concerts, yoga classes, and more.

We have two separate playgrounds for children to enjoy and explore.

Our homes are designed to foster a sense of community, with pedestrian-friendly pathways that encourage neighborly interactions as we walk from designated parking areas to our front doors.

We are legally structured as a townhouse association, meaning each homeowner owns their house with backyards designated as private spaces.

To the west of Nyland, we enjoy stunning views of the Front Range and the Indian Peaks of the Rocky Mountains.

To the north, our property features a farm operated by local farmers, where residents can participate in their CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program.

We have a community kitchen equipped with professional-grade supplies, where meals are often prepared for community dinners and events.

The main floor also includes the community dining room, where we gather for Sunday meals. This versatile space is used for community meetings, parties, concerts, movie nights, and more.

We have a playroom for young children, filled with an abundance of toys, where kids can gather and play together.

The lower level of the Common House includes a pool room, laundry room, craft room, multipurpose room, workout room, mailroom, and two guest rooms.

We have an outdoor court that serves as both a basketball and pickleball court.

The woodshop offers spacious work areas, a variety of saws, and both private and shared tools for residents to use.

The greenhouse and community garden are places where individuals can work their own piece of dirt
